A Dropbox-like tool that makes it quick and easy for researchers to transfer files that were previously considered too numerous or big - in the terabyte size range and beyond. ActiveFolders is an experimental platform for data sharing, where file transfer is but one use of our technology. Beyond what Globus supports, ActiveFolders also supports file synchronization (not just transfer), automatic detect-and-transfer functionality, and a Python-based application programmer's interface (API) that Globus does not. Furthermore, the team behind ActiveFolders is evolving the platform to meet the specific needs of our CANARIE partners that need, for example, long-lived security credentials and staged data synchronization.
